Today we visited the Pearl Luggers Tour, a 1 hour session explaining the history of the pearl industry in Broome....the girl who explained it was delightful...made it fun and interesting. The men divers who wore those horrid diving suits were only small, usually Japanese...
Dave couldn't even get his head inside the helmet!
I was surprised at the size of the pearls...they're all quite large.
The one I'm holding is an extra large one worth heaps.
There are several jewellers here with lots of very expensive jewellery.
As well as the pearls, they have the Kimberley diamonds from the Argyle Diamond mine...
