Day 9...Longreach to Kynuna

Packed up at Longreach and drove to Winton where we had a picnic lunch in the park opposite the Matilda Centre. Winton's claim to fame is that it was in the Gregory Hotel that Banjo Patterson first sang Waltzing Matilda.
QANTAS also began in Winton, then after a year moved to Longreach.
There have been many changes of scenery on the trip. You'll go for ages with just straw-like grass, then low scrub, then trees.
We drove on to Kynuna for our next overnight stop....Kynuna Roadhouse. It was very quiet and peaceful...felt very remote!

On the way into Kynuna, we stopped and had a beer at the Blue Heeler pub...very much appreciated as it was pretty hot when we arrived.
Once we had Rosie set up, Dave went for a walk down to a creek, a couple of hundred metres through the scrub. He threw in a line, but no fish!

  1. Although I haven't been there, I am such a fan of this Pub! I want to go there with Ben and sit him up on a bar stool and get him a cold one.... He would love it hahaha..
